About Mr. Tatro
Rob Tatro came to Hillside school (now Sunita Williams Elementary School) in September of the 2000-2001 school year after teaching elementary and adapted physical education in Scituate, MA for four years prior to coming to Needham.
Rob graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and received his Master of Education in Educational Technology from Lesley University. Rob continues to work with Bridgewater State University as a cooperating practitioner, working with student teachers looking to enter the field of elementary physical education. Outside of school, Rob is the proud father of two children, Scott (23) and Rachel (21), and is supported by his lovely wife, Sharon, while living in nearby Medfield. He currently serves as a Commissioner of Parks and Recreation in Medfield, mentors both teachers in the Needham Public Schools as well as student teachers from Bridgewater State University, and is the VP of Physical Education for the Massachusetts Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. In the spring of 2020, Rob was named the MAHPERD Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year. Rob was presented with the Heart of Our Mission Award from the American Heart Association in the fall of 2014 for the work he does with the organization. |
